Mr. President, Speaker Pelosi, Leader Reid, we don’t need your brand of health reform (health takeover is more like it).  We need Real Health Reform.  We have outlined from day one the key issues and will do so again leading up to the President’s speech on Wednesday before a joint session of the Congress.  There are areas where we can all agree.  There are areas upon which we will never agree.  Those areas are best left alone and not forced on the American public.  Why?  Because policy will ping-pong depending upon who is in power.  That is no way to run our nation.  Let’s see what we agree on and agree on those items.  We do no need 1,000+  pages of federal double-speak and open ended language that allows for broad regulatory interpretation or federal interference in the major sector of our free market economy.  Real Health Reform can be done in a few pages and with the stroke of a pen. We will show you how . . . obi jo and jomaxx

Blue Dogs Say No To Going It Alone

As the White House stumbles to clarify whether a final health care bill will include a public option, the House Democrats have come back with a promise that they will move forward without the Republicans if necessary to complete their government takeover of health care. Meanwhile, outside Washington, 54% of Americans think we would be better off without a health care bill passing Congress and the usually-dull August townhalls are swamped with outraged citizens begging their representatives to vote against government-run health care.

Fortunately, it appears somebody might be listening as the Blue Dog coalition – moderate Democrats – has made clear they are not on board with shoving a massive government takeover of health care through Congress without any bipartisan support or thoughtful discussion. If nothing else, these Democrats see two things in their near future if they go along with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid: an uphill election battle in 2010 and perhaps more terrifying, the prospect of no longer having federal health benefits to shield them from the health care system they created.
